The internet is running our lives for us. We trust it. It provides for us. We have a new faith. Is that a good thing, a bad thing or just inevitable progress in human evolution? Set slightly in the future, In Touch takes us to an online virtual world where users interact with each other through avatars and asks us what it means to be human in the 21st century.
Originally titled Simpletown, this musical by Dougal Irvine came hot on the heels of his first musical Departure Lounge.
Following a development workshop, In Touch was originally showcased by Perfect Pitch in 2008 at Trafalgar Studios. Amongst the showcase cast were Amy Pemberton and Paddy Doherty alongside recent graduate at the time, Jessie Buckley, who took over the role of Mairin on the morning of the showcase after cast illness.
The first workshop production of In Touch was performed by the MTA drama school in London in 2014, and since then the show has been presented a number of times including in Tokyo, Japan.
